That probelm would be fixed if they would just give paladin a provoke type ability. It's a freaking holy knight for fucks sake. It doesn't have to be provoke.. so all those warriors ready to whine about them stealing it can SHUDDUP! Not even saying it has to be a low ability.. I'd be happy to even be able to put some points into it. Eh.
Personally I dont join end game Ls because most those people take the GAME too serious. FFS it's a game.. put down the controller and buy a girlfriend! Ok so girlfriends are only rentals... wives are the ones you buy.. and keep paying for (atleast gunner says so)

yeah, i agree luna ... a lot of endgame players are so damn serious but i actually do enjoy endgame and i'm loving the gear i'm getting for my SAM. in fact, right now--as i type this--i'm working on getting my rajas ring from my PMs. endgame is fun for me, though i feel like i do it too much sometimes.

This is a little long winded for my first official post, but this topic is something I know a little about.

Let me tell ya, pld/nin is tough to get used to. I used to feel just like you Nos, my first job was pld, and had no intrest in nin. After I got pld to 75, my friends all wanted to do another job, but we could never find a tank. I hated ninja, but I took one for the team, and I am glad I did. Ninja gets 2 million times better with Ni, and it helps having a tank that can do some damage. A good ninja and a rdm can duo a lot of impressive stuff that you just can't do with a blood tank.

It's all situational though. As someone with pld and nin at 75, and spent every moment online for about 8 months in sky would I tank gods a nin? Heeeeelllll no. Pld/nin is just the best option for god or hnm type mobs. Ninja loses their shadows (and gods don't miss very often believe me) and get one-shotted, and pld/war just can't stand up long when normal hits from genbu do 300 - 700 dmg. Pld/nin has a lot more tools then you think for keeping hate. Cure IV is your best friend, and flash really pisses stuff off, and lots of job abilities. Having gear with +enmity makes all of those work that much better, and plenty of pld gear has +enmity on it. It will be easier with a serious shell too, with refresh and ballad for mp, haste and march for utsu recast it is easier to keep hate and stay alive, not to mention a good helping of your DD will be /thf and slapping hate on you or your backup.

I can't lie though, pld/nin is HARD, and it doesnt help knowing if you screw up and die, your alliance could wipe and lose claim on an nm or lose valuable pop items people spent hours farming for, not to mention Losing every chance of getting that valuable drop. Gear is a pain, having to balance enmity and defense and haste. Losing hate to some assclown who comes /war and thinks it is funny watching you try to get hate back after doing a 2k WS in the first 10 seconds of the fight. The rdm that won't refresh you, the whm that won't cure you, etc. But once you get used to it, you can laugh at ninja tanks in sky. It's really fun, and I seldom get as excited playing this game as I did when I had solo tank byakko and lived to talk about it. If anyone has fought him, you know he is one pissy kitty.

Just make sure you have fun though, it is just a game. You can do plenty of sky farming /war, and doing dynamis /nin would just be silly. If you really can't stand nin, and a shell rejects you because of it, screw em, their loss. Don't ever do anything just because some jackass with a superiority complex thinks he is better then you because he has better imaginary gear.
If you do nin, I really recommend going to 75. Utsu is a tricky beast, and unless you xp with it, real practice is limited just going to 37. Not to say you can't be a master with a 37 nin, I am just saying after casting utsu 68264629887 times and paying for all that damn shihei, you don't even have to count anymore.
The best tanks start with pld, grow with nin, but excel with pld/nin

that was a great post, trik. thank you so much for sharing your insight. you, obviously, were able to shed a lot more light on the subject of PLD/NIN than i possible could. NIN is 37 and PLD is like 29, so i don't have much first hand experience other than what i see in endgame events.

although I dont do any endgame stuff for now, one thing I do miss is have a good PLD partner when i am playing my WHM. A good PLD can change the world! lol

I usually communicate a lot with the PLD to make sure that we know what's going on. Plus occasionally tanking as a taru WHM is bloody hell fun, lol

I would be down for that, but I probably won't know my schedule until Monday. I'm not going to have a set schedule anymore unfortunately because I told the asshole managers at work that I wasn't bartending anymore. I really prefer it to serving but they seem to keep making all these rules that prevent us from making money and unfortunately I do have bills to pay. Hopefully this will be the impetus I need to finally find another job and get the fuck outta there once and for all. Anyway, I will let you know something about a date as soon as I know something and then we will see if we can work something out for everyone.

this week i have tuesday and saturday off, morning is bad cause i have dynamis at 9amest. night time is perfect if you guys wanta put something together. i also open on friday so i'll be homea round 8ish est.

I work Tuesday night, Rosy works on Friday night and we have a friend;s birthday dinner on Saturday night so it looks like this might have to wait until next week before we can get something going.

well how bout 2 weekends from now then? we'll make it official (so to speak) and this way here i'm off and we can come too, and this way we can plan things out a little better, give us a chance to look at our schedule and such, what do you guys and gals think?

sounds good to me, i'll keep posting my availablity as it comes however sadly to say, 27-9/3 we may not be available. our oldest is due for heart surgery. so we'll be in Hershey PA for that week.
