that being said, i want to address the issue about the ads for buying gil that are sometimes on the forum. i know several members have expressed concern over these and i just want to clarify why they are there.

unfortunately, at this time, we have no control over which ads are present on the forum. to completely remove the ads, we are required to purchase points which can, in turn, be used to remove ads from our site. while i would love, at some point, to be able to remove the ads completely, right now is not a viable time.

how the ads are placed
periodically throughout the day, bots from various search engines will come onto the forum and 'browse,' for lack of a better term. when they do this, a couple of things happen:

1. keywords and meta tags are added to various search engines so that when someone types in a certain word, our forum may come up as a possible link.
   
2. ads are placed by google in conjunction primarily with what our site is about and being that our site is FFXI based, it places the most popular FFXI ads on our site in an attempt to drum up business for those ads which, in our case, happens to be gilbuying ads.

again, these ads are not supported by us nor do we like them there, but at this time we have no control over them. i would ask, as a personal favor, that you do not click these ads because when you do, a small amount of money is distributed to the site to which the ads belong and i, personally, do not want to help the RMT gain anymore of a foothold than they already have in the game.
