"A Crystalline Prophecy" Advance Orders Begin and Item Details Announced! (03/23/2009)

The first installment of three new add-on scenarios—"A Crystalline Prophecy – Ode of Life Bestowing"—is now available for advance purchase through PlayOnline! Access the order page from the "A Crystalline Prophecy" banner located on the main FINAL FANTASY XI page to purchase your registration code.

(*Players purchasing the scenario will receive access to the in-game content upon the release of the upcoming FINAL FANTASY XI version update scheduled for early April.)

(*As with all forms of expanded content, the purchase of a single registration code for a given account will allow you to enjoy the add-on scenario with all characters created on that account.)

To commemorate the occasion, the official "A Crystalline Prophecy" site has been updated with the latest on the customizable equipment that awaits you as a reward for completing the scenario!

WHAT?!? Now they are getting too cheap to add xpacs that they are release "add-on scenarios" That's just cheesy... They better be charging now more then $5 for this..

actually, i think this is a cool idea. it's $9.99 for the add-on but it's unique and adds a new flavor to an already great game. i'm all for every addition they make to the game, be it small or large, and honestly ... i think i like the idea of getting a series of three add-ons over the next year or two as opposed to waiting a longer period of time for 1 big expansion.

besides, negative nancy, maybe they're in the works for another large expansion pack and they're giving us these to tide us over until it's released.

and hopefully the smaller add ons will mean you don't have to wait for hours while the servers are being bombarded.

aparently they are aying to buy in advance becuase there will be mayhem. So not only will the update take forever we'll have to wait for folk to do whatever it is the expansion thingy does.
It dont quite explain how it works. does it download to your comp? If I had to reformat would I still have it or would I have to pay again?
I wish they'd explain things more. Also why don't the european pages of playonline never get updated everything is on the jp and us pages, They neglect giving us info.

Like everything, it has it's pros and cons but I think this is going to be great. I really just want to see the game on the PS3.

Yeah, me too. >.< I think you CAN play it on the PS3 if you swap the hard-drive.. or at least that's what I've heard. Not really looked into trying it myself..

no, you CAN play it on the PS3 already ... well, at least the first generation PS3s ... the later ones that came out aren't backward compatible (not sure if sony is working on fixing that) but i DO know that playing FFXI on the PS3 is damn near exactly the same as PS2 ... it's still a PS2 game, just being played in a different system. you might notice smoother lines, but overall it's just an emulator.

i think what rosy is referring to is SE releasing a PS3 version of the game which, by any standards, will probably blow away the 360 version in both graphics and speed, but who knows. i think if they DID release it for PS3, they'd once again make a killing in sales and quite possibly acquire some new players.
