Event Coordinator

I would like to suggest nominating someone to be an event coordinator for Cosmic Enigma. This person would plan, organize, schedule and advertise linkshell events.

We could have regular events on a continuous basis, such as eco-warriors (like we have been doing), garrisons and promyvions. As well as extra events based upon suggestions and the amount of people that want to participate such as naked level 1 races, mochi-hide & seek or chocobo races.

I think if we had someone to handle these tasks, it would free up some of the responsibilities (and stress )of other leaders in Cosmic Enigma such as Dionys or Lunaura that spend much of their time building this forum.

Linkshell events not only assist furthering players in the game, but they also build a bond between those in the linkshell. Plus, it's just plain fun and it gives us something to do.

Anyways, let me know what you all think. I'd like to hear your feedback.

I both understand.. and do like the idea. Be nice to have someone to keep events organized, make sure people know about them and keep the flow going so we don't go weeks at a time with nothing planned.. I mean, all of us generals should have something to do with the events, but I'd definitely have to say it'd be nice to have someone coordinating it all together.. and take stress off poor Dio and Luna..

I do like the idea of this. The person who does this job would have to be a sackholder as well though. (to set lsmes and other webpage privledges) So they would have to meet the requirments for that.
How long would a person be the event coordinator for? I wouldn't want members to burn out. We could keep the time frame open i guess.
Who will want to do this though? I'm all for this idea.

I think that linkshell members need to nominate people that they see fit for the job and then those nominees need to be voted on by the entire linkshell.

Also, I feel anyone nominated needs to be willing to take on the task.

True.. not a very good idea to put someone in the position that either a: doesn't want to or b: wouldn't be around to do the job often enough..

Just because a person is nominated doesn't mean they would want the job.
First we need to come up with expectations of the position. Then I think we need to go about creating a list of candidates who first want the job. Then finally we should vote from that list. From past experiences with nominations... The LS hasn't really been very forthcoming. I do not want to have to accept applications or votes in game. I expect the forum to be used to it's fullest. Once we have our list of applicants I will post a ballot.
My main requirement for this position is they must meet the requirments of Mercenary . They must also plan to put this forum to full use.

That sounds fair to me Luna. I understand how you feel about previous nominations.

If the candidates must meet the requirements of a mercenary, we should post what those requirements are. The definition: Linkshell members who train to be Generals. doesn't go into very much detail.

Didn't the description for Generals include that they must help with LS events or at the very least coordinate with Mercs who wanted to do an event? By creating an Event Coordinator, wouldn't you be taking that responsibility off the Generals? Theres more Generals than just Dio and Luna. If a Merc wishes to do or sponsor an LS event wouldn't it be best to let said Merc decide who they want to help them? Instead of just having just one go to person for all events? I just feel that creating the EC(Event Coordinator) is like the Generals are taking th easy way out of their responsibilities.

Yes it is Generals job description to do events. It is also part of being a Mercenary. We were trying to find a person that will keep regular events going.
Their responsibilties are not just events, but there will still be events that myself and other will plan. We are not taking the responsibilty away from the Generals and Mercenary. We are taking some pressure off them to keep regular events going as we rebuild the linkshell.
After talking it over more the we are actually discussing making it an Event Coordinator group. The person chosen through voting would be the Moderator of the group. Life happens and sometime people can't spend as much time in game from month to month. We need to not punish people for it, but help them by making participation easier for everyone.

Wouldn't it be best to allow the EC to choose who he/she wants to be in the EC group?(i.e. people he/she knows best or trusts and can rely on to help him/her out with planning of events) I like the EC group idea though. EC's rarely ever work alone in RL

Yes I would say that the EC would have main control over the group.
I'm thinking that the Event Coordinator would also be a sackholder. So that they can post Ls Message. Other members in the Event Coordinator group would not automatically be sackholders, but can become one.

just seems to me ppl dont want to do much besides lvling, i would apply for the position but i would like to know if ppl will actually show up if i set an event.

If I'm available without any RL stuff, I'd attend whatever event you set up, and would help on whatever events you might need help with. Though I'm a General, so I guess my vote doesn't really count.. XD

shu, i think your vote counts even more b/c u are a general. you are a leader in this linkshell and as such, you opinion is greatly vlaued.

as far as the event coordinator. i've been greatly considering the position myself. i have organized events before and it seems to be something i enjoy. i have many ideas for events we could have and i'd like to have them on a regular basis as new members seem to be trickling into our linkshell every day.

yes, i think i'd like to apply for it. however, i do believe luna stated that this person would need to be a general as well. i suppose i'd have to apply for that first, but as i understand it, that group is closed.

Personally, I believe that you'd make a good event coordinator. When you first tossed this idea out, I believe the general consensus was for it to be someone outside of the original generals, and no doubt rather popular amongst the members. Thus, that'd make you a perfect candidate for the job. Though if two people are putting in for the job, I'd imagine there would need to be a poll soon (that should be interesting) to decide which of you two (and anyone else that might actually want to put in for the job) would be selected for the job.

I believe that both would make excellent EC. I would be there for any events you needed me for. barring any real life issue that may come up.

One person will lead the Event coordinators. They will be a sackholder as well. They will lead a smaller group of people who help them set up and coordinate events. There will be a seperate area on the forum that Ec can see but not other members of CE. So they may discuss and brainstorm without the peanut gallery. Being in the Events group is another step that members can take to show that they would like to move up in CE (become a sackholder).

I would like to start a poll on this topic soon. But would like to inform the Ls so any others interested can put their name in for consideration.

The Generals group was closed, but I changed it so that members that want to move up must apply for a change in the groups tab. Know that your change will need to be discussed with the current sackholders before approval.

thank you shu, that really means a lot to me for you to say that.

i fully agree about having a poll. i would not want to be in any leadership position without the support of my fellow linkshell members.

I myself completely agree with all that was said. Although I do work a lot, i will try my hardest to attend all events. Its just that time is always not on my side. I can only guarantee weekdays, my weekends are usually shot. This is simply because i am a manager at a restaurant, meaning i am needed a lot. So please if possible can some events be scheduled during the week so i can make them? I'm only asking because some previous one's such as promy's, avatars, etc. have been on the weekend, cause of work i've missed them and need them . So whoever is voted to become coordinator please consider this, it'll be greatly appreciated. although i do fully understand if 90% of CE is only available on weekends. I will definitely try my hardest to attend all events, just please consider this information. thank you soooooooooo much

I will give the Ls until this friday(12-21-07) to put in their bid for consideration to become EC. At that time I will make the poll and give everyone maximum one week to get in their votes. I would like to tighten this time frame alot more, but with Christmas and other holiday events going on I don't want to drag people away from family things for a game.

Looks like that's it.. only two: Vyper and Druantia. Though that in itself is gonna be a hard decision..
