Walkthrough:

Talk to Sobane. Then travel to South Landing in Carpenters' Landing. Either take the barge from the entrance in Northern San d'Oria, or take a chocobo to the entrance at (J-8) in Jugner Forest.
Speak with Anguenet(J-10) standing next to the Tonberry at the docks. He knows a way to speak with them, but he won't do it for free. He wants some Attohwa Ginseng.
Once you trade him the Attohwa Ginseng, Anguenet will give you the Tonberry Blackboard(key item) which will allow you to communicate with the Tonberry Riche on the ferry.
Board a barge headed for the Newtpool route and talk to Riche, the Tonberry on board. Ask him all the questions; at the end he'll take the key item. Be sure to do this quickly, so that he finishes before the end of the barge ride.
Travel to Fei'Yin and kill Shadows there for the Treasury Gold.
Take the Treasury Gold to Davoi and trade it to the ??? at J-11, which spawns a Hematic Cyst.
Kill the Hematic Cyst and select the ??? again for a cutscene.

A group of characters who are doing this quest can all get the cut-scene by killing just one Hematic Cyst, from one Treasury Gold.
